The British Club
About The British Club
The club was formed in 1903 when British expats had a hissy fit with other members of the then United Club and formed an English style gentlemen's club on the Surawong Road in Bangkok. There's a nice timeline of the club here.
The classical frontage of the clubhouse belies the very modern facilities that are available within - you'll find superb dining, and a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports and activities. Interestingly, you can learn to play Balut, not unlike Yahtzee, and it's played in many clubs in South East Asia.
The club is very family-oriented and has a lot of children's activities.
The club has had it's ups and downs over the years, but now is thriving and is the centre for the English-speaking community in Bangkok.
