St Francis Yacht Club
About St Francis Yacht Club
Founded in 1927, St. Francis Yacht Club (StFYC) is one of the premier yacht clubs in the United States, situated on the shore of San Francisco Bay. The club hosts over 130 days of racing annually, including the prestigious Rolex Big Boat Series. StFYC originated from a group of San Francisco yachtsmen who sought to establish a club within the city after a split from the San Francisco Yacht Club. The club’s location offers members stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and the Marin Headlands. In addition to its San Francisco clubhouse, StFYC also boasts a private island, Tinsley Island, in the Sacramento Delta, providing members with unique and diverse sailing experiences.
Social facilities
StFYC’s clubhouse features three dining rooms, multiple event spaces, and various amenities. The club regularly hosts social events, including formal dinners, casual gatherings, and special celebrations, fostering a strong sense of community among its members. The dining facilities offer a range of culinary experiences, with the scenic backdrop of the bay enhancing the overall ambiance.
Sailing and racing events
StFYC has a robust sailing program, with a wide range of regattas, from classic yacht races to the cutting-edge WingFoil championships. The club’s annual Rolex Big Boat Series is a highlight of the sailing calendar, attracting top sailors from around the world. StFYC also offers extensive youth sailing programs and is deeply involved in the development of competitive sailing, both locally and internationally.
Mooring and marina facilities
The StFYC provides docking facilities for members and visiting yachts. With its prime location on San Francisco Bay, the marina offers easy access to the bay's sailing conditions, making it an ideal base for both competitive racing and leisurely cruising. The marina’s services include docking, fueling, and maintenance support, ensuring a seamless experience for boaters.
Visiting the club
Visitors to StFYC, especially those from reciprocal clubs, are welcomed to enjoy the club’s facilities, including its dining areas, marina, and social events. Advanced arrangements are recommended, particularly for docking and dining reservations.
