Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club
About Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club
Founded in 1856 the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) is one of Australia's leading yacht clubs. The club began with the name Mosquito Yacht Club and adopted the name Prince Alfred in honor of Prince Alfred's visit to Sydney in 1868. Granted the prefix 'Royal' by King George V in 1911, it moved to its current location at Green Point to escape the congested Sydney Harbour. There's a nice "History Walk" on the club's website. Today, the club offers a broad range of activities including inshore and offshore keelboat racing, centreboard dinghy racing, cruising, and sail training. The RPAYC is recognized for its commitment to environmental practices, holding a Level 3 Clean Marina and Fish Friendly accreditation. Its marina facilities are equipped to accommodate vessels up to 30 meters with 342 berths and offer casual mooring for vessels up to 22 meters, supported by a 7-day tender service.
Social facilities
The RPAYC offers extensive social facilities including waterside dining options where members can enjoy a variety of events, conferences, and celebrations against the backdrop of Pittwater.
