Established in 1829 by officers of the Royal Navy, the Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club (RGYC) is one of the oldest yacht clubs outside of Britain. The club has a rich history, with British monarchs and Gibraltarian governors serving as patrons. After relocating from its original site due to harbor reclamation projects, the club now resides at its new premises on Coaling Island. The RGYC provides a variety of sailing services, including a sailing school accredited as a teaching facility and testing center. The club is a significant part of Gibraltar's maritime community, hosting various sailing events and offering facilities for social gatherings.
The Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club was formed in 1829. There's a history here. Following a relocation due to the dredging of Gibraltar Harbour the club had to move it's premises.
At the time of writing the club's website is under construction. However the clubhouse has a bar, restaurant and is a centre for the club's social activities.
