Royal Canadian Yacht Club
About Royal Canadian Yacht Club
The Royal Canadian Yachting Club can trace it's history back to 1852 and got it's "Royal" moniker in 1854. The club has a really good interactive timeline here and takes it's heritage seriously.
There are two clubhouses. The city clubhouse is in fashionable Yorkville, Toronto and the seasonal Island clubhouse is in the Toronto Islands .
The club has a fleet of International 14s - not surprising as between 1930 - 1960 club member - and aviation expert - Fred Buller did a huge amount of development work the 14-footer, a precursor to the International 14s.
The club is currently holder of the Canada's Cup (2022)
There's plenty of family activities as well, with sailing, sports and summer camps.
Social
The club has a full social calendar, with commemorative meals, speakers, special interest groups. Both clubhouses provide formal and informal dining with fresh. locally sourced menus.
Sailing
The club has an illustrious sailing heritage that is reflected in their sailing offer. There's midweek and event racing, Ideal 18 (designed by another famous Canadian designer, Bruce Kirby) cruising and racing, and a sailing school too.
